Several weeks ago, Nashville’s skyline shined pink and red in honor of our public school teachers. That moment, while symbolic, was not fleeting. Rather, it marked the beginning of an important journey.
We must show our teachers that we truly value them.
As mayor and director of schools, we are working hard to make Nashville’s public school system one of the best in the country. We want a system that challenges and supports all students to reach new heights and meets our community’s diverse needs.
We want a school system grounded in high expectations, rigor, growth and achievement for all.
Quality educational programs begin with stellar teachers. Without a deep and unrelenting focus on attracting, retaining and supporting excellent teachers, little else is possible. And, that is why the new strategic framework the district adopted recently prioritizes the development of our teachers and investment in them.
