Director of Schools Search

The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools Board of Education has entered the final stretch in its rebooted search for the next Director of Schools. A slate of candidates will be presented to the School Board on May 3. After a first round of interviews, a few finalists will proceed to the second round. All members of the Nashville community are invited to attend community forums and submit questions for the candidates.

Search Advisory Committee

In September 2015, the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools Board of Education began discussing the best way to “reboot” the search process for a new director of schools. Realizing the importance of bringing others into the search process more intentionally, they proactively reached out to newly elected Mayor Megan Barry and the Nashville Public Education Foundation to form a community advisory committee to help kick-start the search process. This group of 17 community leaders released a 192-page report with recommendations and a leadership profile, which was unanimously approved by the school board. Those documents can be found below.
