Focus on how schools are performing, not whose purse is bigger

On Wednesday, a reader from Hermitage wrote a plaintive email to me, asking a simple question: “Why would you NOT vote for school board members?”

She wrote: “I am making calls to voters for school board members and time after time they tell me ‘I don’t vote for school board members.’

“Can you tell people why it’s important to vote for school board members. If they own a home over 40 percent of their property taxes go toward education. … Good schools directly reflect on community property values.
