Nashville schools director candidates please task force

The Metro Nashville Public Schools superintendent recruitment firm followed its marching orders almost precisely, plucking candidates from in or near every district the Nashville school board’s 17-member director task force recommended searching.

The two outliers are Joel Boyd, Santa Fe (N.M.) Public Schools superintendent, and H. Allen Smith, Oakland (Calif.) Unified School District chief of schools. Both, however, had previously worked in districts identified as “bright spots” of innovation in the task force’s report.
