A record-breaking crowd of nearly 1,000 people gathered at the Omni Nashville Hotel for the Nashville Public Education Foundation’s 13th Annual Public Schools Hall of Fame to support public school excellence.
Judge Sheila Calloway received the Nelson C. Andrews Distinguished Service Award, which is awarded to a community leader who is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Nashville residents through support and advocacy of public education, for her work on behalf of at-risk youth across the city.
Joey Hatch, Dr. Valerie Malyvanh Jansen and Janet Miller received the Distinguished Alumni Award, presented by Ingram Industries Inc. The award is given to the best and brightest MNPS graduates. Limitless Libraries, a program of the Nashville Public Library, received the Inspiring Innovation Award, presented by Nissan. The award is given to an organization that exemplifies the NPEF’s commitment to bring bold, innovative strategies to public schools. The honor included a $10,000 grant to expand its programming to reach more schools and children.
