New schools director hired
The mayor’s office partnered with the nonprofit Nashville Public Education Foundation to lead a tasked
force that helped the school board recruit and identify school superintendent candidates. One year after
an initial schools director search stalled, the school board in May hired Shawn Joseph, former deputy
superintendent in Prince George’s County (Md.) Public Schools.
