Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Waters, a music teacher at Bellevue Middle School. He single-handedly doubled the size of the school band program and helped hundreds of kids find their way through music.
He puts in countless hours – far more than the school day allows. He works nights. He works weekends. He didn’t go into teaching for the money, but rather, a heart for helping kids.
I, too, have been blessed with many amazing teachers; but one who stands out is Mary Catherine Bradshaw. She pushed me beyond anything I ever knew I was capable of. She made me thirst to know more about the world in which I lived and spurred a lifetime interest in international affairs, politics and writing.
