Principal Justin Uppinghouse is a popular man when he roams the halls of Nashville’s Whitsitt Elementary.
Like a socialite at a party, Uppinghouse is frequently stopped for a chat and a hug, only in his case it’s by students in grades kindergarten through four during a recent Friday.
Whitsitt is one of the lowest-performing schools in the state, which weighs heavy on many teachers, said the school’s second-year principal.
